It is important that no matter where in the country a child is cared for, there is a consistent approach to managing difficult or contentious issues, and that the ethical framework is clear, transparent and understood by all. This group is undertaking the following activities:
- Revisiting the excellent RCPCH Achieving Consensus guidance and considering how we can supplement this with additional practical information.
- Drawing together best practice examples of how to working constructively with families in making plans and seeking 2nd opinions.
- Planning how we can all learn from anonymised cases.
- Looking into whether we can develop an 'accessible guide' to ethical considerations, which demystifies the issues for staff and families
